A Year Full of Life is an interactive documentary film project that will chronicle four different sustainable menus designed by Clark Staub, chef and owner of Full of Life Flatbread. Located in the heart of historic downtown Los Alamos, CA in Santa Barbara wine country of the Central Coast of California, this one of kind restaurant is surrounded by organic and sustainable farmers, ranchers as well as renowned wine and food artisans. Their organic handmade pizzas are baked in an authentic wood-fired oven and the restaurant uses all locally grown ingredients to give their flatbreads a sense of place. Since the menu changes every week, Staub shops at local farmers’ markets and uses ingredients grown within a 150 mile radius so that they can offer their customers the freshest seasonal ingredients possible. Full of Life Flatbread Pizzas are also distributed and sold in frozen departments at supermarkets across the nation, including Whole Foods.
Over the course of one year, documentary filmmaker Michael Albright will document the seasonable ingredients of each menu. This film not only showcases the skills and care of the California organic farmers and artisan chefs at Full of Life Flatbread, but also provides a positive example as to how restaurants can be more environmentally sustainable and utilize local food sources to create delicious yet healthy and affordable seasonal meals. These four menus will be prepared each season at four different farms and/or wineries in Santa Barbara and/or San Luis Obispo. Residents in these communities will have a unique opportunity to attend these events and see an exclusive and intimate glimpse into the labor behind the food they enjoy as well as see a sneak preview of the documentary, which will help cultivate a grassroots following for the film.
